“Shoulder to Shoulder” Surf Lifesavers Event

Thirroul Beach – Saturday 20th December 2025 @ 8:00am

In response to the tragic and horrific events at Bondi last Sunday, Surf Lifesaving NSW is proposing to show support for all those involved in the incident, including Bondi and North Bondi surf lifesavers.

This support is called “Shoulder to Shoulder”.

Surf lifesavers across NSW will come together at 08:00 on Saturday morning, 20 December, on local beaches.

Surf lifesavers will wear patrol uniforms and stand shoulder to shoulder in a line along the shore facing the sea, and observe a 3-minute silence. 

All people are invited to join surf lifesavers, either on the beach or on the promenade.

We stand shoulder to shoulder to show we are a united group of surf lifesavers and lifeguards across the country.

Please do this as a show of support for fellow surf lifesavers and in recognition of the tragedy that has unfolded at Bondi.

There are no speeches, just silence for three minutes, as we pay respects

to those who lost their lives,

to those who risked their lives,

to those who worked so hard to save lives,

and to all of us who will never forget.

Please come to Thirroul or to your local beach at 08:00 this Saturday, 20 December 2025.
